harris cm has started work on a £2.3m contract in Barnsley to design and build the latest phase at The Business Village – the trading name of Barnsley Business & Innovation Centre (BBIC).
The project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Northern Powerhouse.
harris cm began Phase Five, located on Innovation Way at Wilthorpe, this month.
When work completes in December 2020, the facility will provide a wide range of managed office spaces and workshop units covering approximately 9,300 sq ft across a 13,000 sq ft, two-storey building that will house up to 25 businesses.
It has been designed to augment the 98 existing modern and flexible units already on site. These are adaptable to suit individual requirements and are available on short ‘easy-in, easy-out’ terms.
The BBIC, which is a non-profit distribution organisation, supports the economic objectives of Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) by offering flexible managed workspace to businesses in approved sectors, together with targeted business support.
This latest project is harris cm’s second high profile contract win in recent months in Barnsley, after the company started work completely refurbishing a 24,433 sq ft, four-storey office building on County Way, which will form part of the town’s Digital Media Centre.
harris cm was appointed by BMBC on the project which is due to complete in summer 2020.
